In This Issue:
Essential Dental Health Care

While your pet’s smile is beautiful to you, a recent study indicated that 85% of dogs and cats over one year of age have the beginnings of periodontal disease, but only 3% of dogs and 1% of cats get treatment. Periodontal disease causes more than just “bad breath”. It can lead to increased risk of heart, liver, and kidney disease.

A simple three-step program can keep your pet healthy and you smiling:

1: Visit Eberle Animal Hospital for a complete dental check-up.
Your pet can’t tell you he has a toothache but Dr. Eberle can. Dr. Eberle can determine if tartar build up has started and what should be the appropriate course of action. If necessary, schedule an appointment for a dental scaling and polishing.

2: Start a dental care routine at home.
Dr. Eberle favors weekly ORAVET treatments. Daily brushing can also be beneficial.

3: Continue regular veterinary checkups at Eberle Animal Hospital.
Discuss your pet’s dental care with Dr. Eberle. Between visits, watch for warning signs of dental disease such as bad breath, a change in eating habits or chewing habits, or depression. Just as you have come to realize how your overall health is linked to your oral health, we want you to understand that dental health care is essential to maintaining the overall heath and well being of your family pet as well.
